QUiRK REWIND: “I DO NEED YOU” – BELL BIV DEVOE

My mom was up on the New Jack Swing wave the second the sound hit big in the late ’80s, early ’90s. She was the cool mom that blasted her music and rolled down every window in her car so everybody could jam along with her in traffic. My four year old self would hum along in the backseat to such artists as Keith Sweat, Guy, Heavy D & The Boys, and Bell Biv DeVoe.

1990’s Poison is one of the most successful efforts of any duo/group combo that emerged from famed boy band New Edition and my favorite song off that album is “I Do Need You”. Everything about this song was dope; they really don’t make songs like these anymore.

Take a stroll down memory lane with me right quick. Come on, you’ll love it.
