VIDEO: JADE NOVAH IS SET TO “DIE YOUNG” IN NEW COVER

You all (should) know by now that JADE NOVAH is a personal favorite of mine and I love everything she does; case in point, this girl just got me to actually tolerate a Kesha (I REFUSE to put the $ in that child’s name – fight me) song! In her new video for the latest cover collaboration with her extremely talented producer, DEVIN JOHNSON, Jade gives “Die Young” a bubbly and fun visual that makes you want to jump in your computer screen to join her and her friends in their ratchet expedition throughout Atlanta.

You get accents, cute clothes and a vocal arrangement that slays those other singers with no effort – just watch the video, you’ll get it.

Shout out to THESHAY WEST as usual for the impeccable directing and amazing HD quality – these colors POP! in this video.

VIDEO: “NAKED” – KEVIN MCCALL FEAT. BIG SEAN

RCA Records recording artist/producer/songwriter/Jack of all trades KEVIN MCCALL just dropped the video for his debut single, “Naked”, which features CBE affiliate BIG SEAN.  Dressed to the nines and ready for a fashion show, the killer visual team of Chris Brown/Godfrey Tabarez/Riveting Entertainment is a great start to what could prove to be a successful stint for the “Deuces” producer. I don’t know; something about Kevin has been sticking with me since he dropped Uninvited Guest and I’m forced to pay attention to him.  That’s not a bad thing at all; hopefully, he’ll keep kickin’ us that funky stuff.

VIDEO: THE HIP HOP LINEAGE TREE, AS TOLD BY MECCA

In my valiant effort to deprive myself of sleep, this weekend I sat on YouTube and discovered JumpOffTV’s Friday Hip Hop Report Debate series. It consists a panel of hip hop tastemakers who come together to discuss the latest news in hip hop and friendly banter ensues. It’s honestly a more dope version of MTV’s Hip Hop POV but it existed way before MTV decided to put their own panel together.

In watching all 80 videos – I watched about 90% of them – I found this gem and had to share it. Mecca, one of the panelists, came up with this dope philosophy called The Hip Hop Lineage Tree, meaning that every rapper is a “descendant” of one of six MCs based on rapping style, “swag” (REALLY hate that word), and other elements. This shit is beyond brilliant and I’m beyond late but I feel like way more people need to be aware of this, so here it goes:

You guys should tune into these debates anyway because they’re constructive and make sense to people who are educated consumers or have an interest in being one. Subscribe to JumpOffTV and watch out for the latest from these guys. Shout out to Mecca!

VIDEO: “NEXT TO ME” – EMELI SANDÉ AT MUSIC HALL OF WILLIAMSBURG + WRITE-UP ON THENEXT2SHINE!

I was in Brooklyn last night posted up at Music Hall seeing the sights and fell in love with EMELI SANDÉ as everyone said I would. Her debut album, Our Version Of Events, hits stateside June 5th and I recommend you all invest in this awesome artist. Here she is singing “Next To Me”, her current single, and PLEASE forgive me for standing in front of the most obnoxious person ever who just HAD to sing along with every single song. The life of a short person at general admission shows is one filled with struggle and strife.

Psst, check out our tumblr for photos from the night and check out my stellar write-up of the night on TheNextShine right now!

VIDEO: “WHERE THEY DO THAT AT” – SABI FEAT. WALE + BEHIND THE SCENES

This combination is cute; SABI is all over L.A. in the clip for “Where They Do That At”, which features WALE, who must be returning the favor for Sabi starring in his “Sabotage” video – they are Warner Bros. label mates, after all. If you like the single, be sure to hit iTunes tomorrow and cop it.

Hit it down bottom to check out the making of the video because we’re all nosey and love to watch this kind of thing. It’s all right to admit that =)
